History

In 1991 PASAN was formed as a grassroots response to the HIV crisis in Canada’s prison system. Today, PASAN strives to provide community development, education and support to person’s currently impacted by the justice system and those who were previously incarcerated in Ontario regarding: HIV, Hepatitis C (HCV), overdose prevention, and other harm reduction issues. PASAN is the only community-based organization in Canada exclusively providing HIV and HCV prevention, education, and support services to persons impacted by the justice system, previously incarcerated and their families.

Mission Statement

PASAN is a place where prisoners matter.

We support and advocate with communities disproportionately affected by incarceration, focusing on prison health, harm reduction, HIV and hepatitis C.

At PASAN, no one is left behind, and nobody fails.

Our Vision

We envision an end to prisons, health inequities, and the oppressions that drive criminalization, incarceration, HIV and hepatitis C.
